At the start of lockdown, we put up several nest-boxes made from untreated wood in the hope that some of the small birds in our area would find a new home in our garden.
We’ve set up a wildlife camera to see if they even investigate any of them – it’s pretty portable so we’re able to mount it on a wooden pole near each of the boxes in turn.
And the good news is some bluetits (and one great tit) seem to be interested in two of the boxes already. Apologies for the quality of the footage – the camera is pretty poor – it’s one we bought years ago for hedgehog watching, but nothing came of that so it’s been sat in a pile of electronic junk for years. Until now!
We can but hope that a pair will move in to one or both of these boxes and in due course some healthy chicks will start tweetling and fledge happily.
